After reading chapter one and two of "Half The Sky" by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn I came to discover many things that I never would imagine would happen to women. First of all the story that really grabbed my attention was the story about Meena Hasin and all the struggle that she went through in he life. First with being in the brothel and the brothel owners waiting for her to be old enough to sell her or prostitute her. This story specially stood out to me because she struggle more when she had her kids and they took them away from her as a method of keeping her from not running away from the brothel. I found this story in specific most impressive because she got to live a better life after she meet her husband and had two more kids with him. This shows that women could move on and keep on working to overcome those obstacle but it the other hand it also reveals that even though theses women have overcome many things they still have a past that they would really like to forget. The second thing that really grabbed my attention was that they mention that one of the big reasons why prostitution happen and infections are being passed is because the girls are not educated enough. This is motioned often in the book in many different stories. This grabbed my attention because the girls who are in the brothels are often taken there before they are 12 years old or so and by that time they don't really have that much education to be able to know what they should for in those situation.
